Position at Pneutech:
-
Engineering Manager
-
-
How long have you been working with Pneutech?
-
17 years.
-
-
Why did you choose to pursue a career in your field?
-
Growing up I enjoyed working with mechanical things, I became a Maintenance fitter and then discovered Pneumatics, I loved it. Pneutech were a supplier to us, dealing with their reps, I thought it would be a great career move. Been here ever since.
-
-
What has been your favourite project to work on at Pneutech?
-
Teaching cells for a TAFE. It was a pick and place assembly but all pneumatic, no PLCs. I had to design an old school Cascade circuit and include a secret switch for the teacher to make the circuit fail so the students could then trouble shoot the circuit. Making it fail is the easy bit, I then had to incorporate series of resets to get the sequence back to square one. I made sure to use as many different products in the build as i could to help expose the students to our product range.

-
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
-
The variety, every day is a new challenge.
-
-
What tips or advice would you give someone starting a new job?
-
Don’t go in there thinking you know everything. Listen to the people with experience and take as much as you can onboard.
-
-
What is one thing you can’t live without?
-
My family.
-
-
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
-
The Bagpipes. For the sake of my family and my neighbours I will never learn to play them though.
-
-
How would your best friend describe you?
-
A knock about kind of bloke, always happy to lend a hand or a washed out rockstar who never actually made it.
-
-
If you could pick any superpower, what would it be and why?
-
Not sure about a superpower, but I always wanted one of those kick ass utility belts like Batman had. You never know when you might need some Bat “shark repellent” or a grappling hook!
